It is a well written and much acclaimed book on teaching profession. Here is the ABC of a good teacher, as culled from the book by me.
A: Acquires the identity and integrity of teaching
B: Builds wholeness and unity of knowledge C: Connects by respecting the diversity among students and creating differentiated classroom D: Develops rational and ethical thinkers F: Fosters self-learning and self-reflection among students by self-example
The book further says, “The connections made by good teachers are held not in their methods but in their hearts – meaning heart in the ancient sense, as the place where intellect and emotion and will and spirit converge in human self.”
It is an inspiring book for teachers and educators as it makes a compelling reading. The book has been published by Jossey-Bass Publishers, San Francisco.
.Often we come across about news of "Mergers and Acquisitions"among corporates and industries; it being so because
the word "profit" is the driving force. Media and publications go all out to highlight from the smallest/tiny
to the highest level of "Mergers and Acquisitons". It is surprising that till date we have not come across a SINGLE
news item of "Merger and Acquisition" amongst NGOs/society serving organisations. the qustion is WHY??? Is is because,
(a) NGOs are considered not that important or (b) existence of an NGO merely signal that people have no better things to do
and therefore get connected with an NGO or (c) is it because the word 'profit' seem to be missing with an NGO or (d) is it
because improving the society is least important compared to reporting the activities of corporates earnings and profits or
(e) NGOs simply open up only to vanish in thin air after a certain time. Whatever be the reason, it is time well run
NGOs need to gear up for bettering their services either by being more efficient or through "Mergers and Acquisitons".
Special incentives should be given to encourage many low performing NGOs to merge with the better ones for creating
greater positive impact to the society for better governance in ALL AREAS.
