NoEPF or ESI are deducted and remitted to the EPF/ESI authorities withthe equal contribution of the Contractor/Principal Employer i.e.BSNL. Workers are retrenched when they demand for their rights. TheCircle Secretary, BSNLCCWF, Com. Tiwari himself has been retrenchedmonths back. BSNL Employees Union leaders have taken up the matterwith the Management but no action has been taken from the latter.
Itis shocking that the BSNL Management is sleeping over this injustice.Some of the General Managers, the top management of the SSAs, arestated to threaten the poor labours that if they raise the issue ofminimum wage, EPF etc. they will be retrenched and even get arrestedon false cases.
Thisis a shame for the entire BSNL Management. If the contractor is notpaying the minimum wage as per the orders of the Government of Indiaand the orders of the BSNL CMD BSNL, they should be black-listed andkept out of the tenders.
In some SSAs, it is told, that the BSNLofficers themselves are paying the wages, but the amount far belowthe minimum wage and EPF/ESI.
TheCircle BSNL Management should ponder how much they are violating theorders of the government and the CMD and is becoming a willing partyto the exploitation of the contract workers by the contractors.
Eachand every officer/employees of the BSNL as well as the managementshould come forward to put an end to the exploitation of the casualand the contract workers.
