A magical, mystical and entrancing stage production, 'The Legend of Kung-Fu', made its debut in India at Gurgaon's live entertainment destination Kingdom of Dreams on January 29. This show is not just a form of entertainment, but is also an emissary to bring both India and China more closer, with more cultural exchange, Li Dazhong said in a press conference, organised after the brilliant first performance of his team in India.

The world famous show from China comes to India for the first time to enthrall audiences in Delhi and NCR. After performing to packed houses all over the world, The Legend of Kung Fu captivated the Indian audiences with their breathtaking performances inside Nautanki Mahal of Kingdom of Dreams.

The extravagant show delivered a gripping narrative, appealing to human emotions with a unique combination of traditional Chinese martial arts, aerial ballet, dance and music. The show told a story of a monk Chun Yi who overcomes different physical and spiritual challenges and finally becomes a master, carrying an eternal theme of “Trials and Growth”.

This show also conveyed the real aspect and meaning of Kung-Fu which is to spread peace and not violence and enmity. It tells how one can crush one's ego completely and bring mind, body and soul together to have a complete control on self.

“When you are thinking that you are the strongest, in reality you are at your weakest point", master told young Chun Yi to convey how arrogance can destroy him.

Man behind this show Li Dazhong told in a press conference how India and China are related to each other in sharing the same culture. "We, after travelling around the world came to India with a hope that people of India will connect to this show more than any other country because we share same culture and traditions. Even Buddhism of China originated in India. That is how we are connected with each other and this show will promote this cultural exchange more than ever and we hope that with this show our friendship will also improve," said Li Dazhong, who runs China Heaven Creation International Performing Arts Co Ltd.

About 49-member Chinese troupe showcased a high level performance with the wonderful story layout, perfect stage design, brilliant sound and special effects, professional martial arts actors and the real Kung Fu action scenes as the tale unfolds on stage.

Kingdom of Dreams, in association with Arya Carnivals, which brought this spectacular show to India, is a newly formed independent business unit, which is the brainchild of Indian entrepreneur Mr. Deepak Bahl.

Thrilled about showcasing the show in India for the first time at Kingdom of Dreams, Mr Deepak Bahl said, “We at Arya Carnivals wanted to re-create the magic of Bruce Lee’s era and bring to India a larger-than-life show with hair-raising stunts and a captivating drama. We are extremely ecstatic about The Legend of Kung Fu making its debut at India’s premium entertainment destination, Kingdom of Dreams which is the perfect platform for a show of its caliber.”

Started in 2004, 'The Legend of Kung-Fu' has been performed more than 6000 times throughout the world before coming to India. "We have performed in the US, Canada, Russia, Japan, UK and Spain and performed more than 6000 times shown since 2004. Even in China, this show is very popular and we have almost 600 shows to perform every year," Li Dazhong told this citizen journalist .

He also said that they found it very difficult to make this ancient art commercialize in this modern world. "Yes it was difficult to attract audience to see this show and have commercial success. To do that, we added aerial ballet, dance and music along with a story line. It would be difficult otherwise to bring audience to see only martial art stunts." Li Dazhong informed.

Mr. Zang Zhihong from Chinese Cultural Embassy was also present and praised KOD. "Our experience in India has been very nice and we are lucky that we came to Kingdom Of Dreams which is the top class theatre facility in India," Zhihong said.

He also said that in India as compared to other countries, it is easy to convey this art as we share same culture and traditions. "In other western countries, which do not have this culture, it is difficult to make them understand the essence of the show but Indian people will get connected easily," Zhihong added.

Araya Carnivals is planning to perform this show throughout the country, and in Gurgaon, they will perform only till February 3 and will have three shows daily.

Mr. Anumod Sharma, Chairman, Apra Group of Companies said, “Being one-of-its kind leisure entertainment destination, at Kingdom of Dreams the priority is to entertain our audiences. By presenting this unique new show in India at the world-class theatre Nautanki Mahal, we hope to deliver an extraordinary experience. The theatre has been designed and tailored specially for showcasing international format shows allowing aerial views of the performers and a sense of interaction between them and the audience. It is a perfect opportunity to introduce and invite people from Delhi-NCR to witness the advanced world of Chinese martial arts at Kingdom of Dreams.”
