The magic of social networking sites
For some social networking sites may be a platform to give themselves that celebrity status they have always wished for, but for me, one of these sites would remain a friend who helped me get back to my friends and re live the best days of my life.

COMMUNITY WEB portals offer amazing platform for people willing to make friendship and augment their social circle. Whichever community web portal you visit, you can find people of your choice matching your hobbies and interests. For some, it is an interesting platform to share their lifestyle, achievements and business and professional interests with like minded people. One of the most interesting facets of community websites is search and find your lost friends and relatives.

One interesting incident and advantage of orkut- a community website I would like to share with you. Some 24 years back in the year 1986, my father was posted in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh when he was in Indian Army. There I was admitted in class four in a school managed by Army authorities-Army School. From that school I went on to do my fifth standard in 1985 and in the same year my father was transferred. Although I read in some of the premiere Schools and Colleges for further studies but those golden days of Army School were always there in my heart and mind and often take me back to those beautiful days- playing cricket with friends Prashant, Sunil and Ankur and eating tasty samosa every Saturday.

I tried my level best to get in touch with those nice childhood friends but as I had no address or contact numbers my attempts were futile. Using orkut provided me an opportunity to again look for my lost childhood friends. One week back, I received a message from my friend Prashant who too was a product of Army School and one of my  good friends in Nahan. I was completely taken aback by the good news. Today (October 6), I even spoke with him on his mobile number exchanged through orkut, it was an appealing and heart touching moment for me and Prashant. We will remain indebted to orkut for ever, in future we are planning to organise alumni meet in Nahan.
