'THE MAGIC of thinking Big' is a book that I would recommend to everyone as it is a must read for all age groups of people. Though, some might feel that it is mostly targeted to sales personnel I will say that the author David J. Schwartz has tried to address a larger audience.
The book is divided into thirteen chapters. All the chapters are important so don’t miss any. Some chapters which will interest you more are, Believe you can succeed and you will; Cure yourself of excusitis, the failure disease; Build confidence and destroy fear; How to think big; How to think and dream creatively; You are what you think you are; Get the action habit; How to think like a leader etc.The author, David J. Schwartz uses a very fluid language which makes it easy to read and comprehend. The flow of language and connectivity of each topic to the title of the book is prefect. Each topic explains how thinking big helps in living a contented life. The author through the book explains how one can achieve, higher income, a prestigious job, financial security, fulfilling relationships, power and influence and greater enjoyment in life.
Today all inspirational books available preach us to think big to achieve our goals in life but most of them fall short in explaining as to how one can think big. This book however teaches us how to think big. The book repeatedly emphasise on one major attitudinal change required i.e. “Don’t sell yourself short. Conquer the crime of self-deprecation. Concentrate on your assets. You are better than you think you are.” In today’s life most of us take our near and dear ones for granted. But every relationship needs to be nurtured. The author has given a very good solution for this when he says that “Use positive language to encourage others. Compliment people personally at every opportunity. Everyone you know craves praise. Have a special good word for your wife or husband every day.” I am sure after reading this book one would definitely feel enlightened. One would feel that life has lot to offer us and it is for us to think about it and achieve it. The present painful period, if any would be seen as diminishing and giving way to a new beautiful life. I am in no way exaggerating the importance of book but believe me it has changed me in how I think and what I think. I quote here Swami Vivekananda “We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.” This preaching of Swamiji for me is re-emphasised in this book so I find a better connectivity and more relevance. Keep this book as a reference book for a better day to day living.
