The Medium Marine in Jones vs the World
Actress Marine Francoise Lanctuit appears in this multi-genre series.

Parisian Marine Francoise Lanctuit is happy about her involvement in the series Jones vs the World. There's the obvious fact that her appearance as Sam in the show allows her to practice her passion of acting.

The show is set to air on Amazon streaming at a time when this service and streaming entertainment in general is achieving popularity and acclaim as never before. Amazon Studios Transparent was the first show produced by a streaming media service to win the Golden Globe for Best Television Series-Musical or Comedy. Amazon Studios became the first streaming media service to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2017 for Manchester by the Sea.

The appearance of Jones vs the World attracts attention to the program and indicates Amazon's belief in its excellence. All these factors are appealing to Lanctuit who also confirms that the global access of the streaming service means that Paris, Hollywood, and all parts of the world will be exposed to her work.

Every generation has its own supernatural TV show. In the 60's it was Primetime Emmy nominated Dark Shadows, the early 90's had Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the early 2000's saw an updated and edgy form in HBO's Golden Globe winning True Blood. The latest incarnation is Jones vs the World. Jones is a normal man save his extraordinary ability to see ghosts. These spirits wreak havoc on his life as they routinely possess him in hopes of wrapping up unfinished business in the material world, making it hard to maintain a job and a steady romantic relationship. Marine appears as Jones' sister Sam. She possesses Medium abilities and has insight to the future and potential future. Along with Jones' best friend Tracey, Sam does her best to help him make sense and stay rooted in the physical world.

Producer/director James Zsigmond had worked with Lanctuit previously on the film Wander and Burn, the Endless Stars and loved her dramatic work as Marloes in the film, he felt that her tragicomedy skills would apply well to Sam. Though both Jones and Sam possess abilities, Sam tries her best to hide them. She can come across as shy or even arrogant at times. Marine describes, "I'm like Sam, sensitive in a good way and very clumsy at times. When Sam meets her boyfriend Arnold at a chiropractor's office after being involved in a car accident, she takes the wrong exit and heads straight into a glass door after spotting him in the waiting room. She doesn't break the glass door but finds herself totally embarrassed and tries to walk out normally. Arnold comes to her rescue, half smiling, but she keeps her cool while being totally red with embarrassment. Sam spent time in Europe before moving home to San Diego. I traveled extensively from a young age and left France when I was eighteen to live in New York. I think of myself more as an introvert. There are a lot of common points between myself and Sam…except for the supernatural bit."

The correlation between Sam's abilities and her own is not lost on Marine. A Medium communicates with the unseen, the unembodied. They become a conduit between our world and one which we cannot see. Lanctuit has spent years as the manifestation of the characters in stories which could not be seen or understood without her ability. She becomes the conduit between the filmmaker and the audience. It may not be supernatural but it is most certainly movie magic. Jones vs the World is light-hearted fright fun. Marine Francoise Lanctuit returns to drama in the film Oakland, Eastside Story. The modern template for a successful actress is vacillating between film and television, comedy and drama. In these terms, Marine has not only achieved her goal but continues to gain notoriety and attention for her diversity and range.
