IT SEEMS the Indian Premier League (IPL) Rajasthan Royal’s captain, Shane Warne, not only very well remembers the famous golden goose story but loves to apply it in his daily life too. He looks very much satisfied these days with his golden egg, Yousaf Pathan – the true soldier whofights where he is told and wins where he fights.

Yousaf is the most suited batsman for the first six overs in these T20 matches. However, Warne may not agree. He is making this Pathan the most suited batsman for the last sixovers. Possibly, he believes the advantage of field restriction is not applicable in his case because he does not hit the ball half-heartedly. Yousaf has full confidence to cross the rope. And, he does. It doesn’t matter whether the fielders are in the circle or not.

“The way Yousaf batted against Kolkata Knight Riders in the super over was brilliant”, said Shane Warne. “We put a respectable target, however Yousaf came and took it away from us”, said defeated captain, Brendon McCulum. He performs almost in every match. One of the most striking features of Yousaf’s batting is he does not give any inkling to boundary fielders.
