The statue of Donald Trump in all its naked glory
"Reports that say something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns - the ones we don't know we don't know." - Former US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
There is the choice available between one God to thousands of gods in different forms and shapes for Mankind. It has umpteen numbers of faiths and this diversity is the beauty of existence. You have freedom to put God in your heart or on a pedestal and pray before him.

In the best of Indian traditions, there is a galore of deities. Having declared all that, it didn't amuse me to see the portrait of Donald Trump finding its place among the holy pantheon at the Jantar Mantar in May this year.

If I may recall correctly, in May 2016, the Right-Wing group Hindu Sena held a puja in New Delhi to pray for Donald Trump's victory in the US election. It was followed by a plan to celebrate Republican nominee's birthday in June 2016. As birthday celebrations are not my cup of tea, I didn't bother to check about the follow up. However, the invitation read as following:

"You are invited to celebrate the birthday of Mr Donald Trump at 12 noon, 14 June, 2016 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, Join us and let's celebrate the birthday of the saviour of humanity, the Republican presidential nominee of the Unites States of America," the invitation, signed off by Sena's Vishnu Gupta, reads .

The poster was released by Hindu Sena and it was signed by one Vishnu Gupta. Trump had turned 70 that day.

For many a folk, those events might have been interesting if not amusing. But lo! Here we are getting a shot of anti-climax. And that also is coming from the shores of Liberty.

On Thursday morning, 18th August, the Life-size statues of Donald Trump, in all his naked glory were erected across the country. But one of the nude effigies was first spotted in Union Square. Throughout the morning, the statue drew hordes of onlookers to the south side of Union Square, who stopped and cringed while snapping as many pictures as possible.

It was an unbecoming event for any civilized society irrespective of despicable and abhorrent election campaign Donald Trump had tried to run so far. It was a laughing matter. The authorities sent workers from the Parks Department to remove the sculpture just after 1 p.m., as onlookers booed and cursed. The incident sparked a slew of tweets poking fun at the microscopic representation of the Republican presidential candidate's manhood and unsightly, cottage-cheese like physique.

At first, all that was left behind was the feet and base, which included an engraved plaque that read, "The Emperor Has No Balls." But the workers eventually came back and took that, too.

"NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small," explained Sam Biederman, a spokesperson for Parks Department who couldn't help but to get in on the fun, as well.
