The Teacher Plus periodical carrying articles on science teaching at school level
The Teacher Plus periodical had carried out articles on science teaching at school level in its various issues. The articles have been compiled in the form of an ebook, in which my article, based on musical intelligence and enhancement of working memory, titled 'Learning physics through verse' has been included.

According to the publishers, the ebook is being sold by Amazon Asia-Pacific Holdings Private Limited in English and is text-to-speech enabled.  The articles are authored by practicing science teachers and have an appeal for the teachers since the narrative is in common language rather than high sounding technical language often found in the teaching of science textbooks used in BEd. classes.

Since the 'articles in this book are mostly aimed at middle and high school, with a focus on physics and to some extent, allied chemistry' and written in easy-to-follow language, the book fills the gap for pedagogical literature for teachers. Since, the ebook has the kindle format, one can listen to the articles spoken in Indian English.

Rightly and relevantly 'some articles also show how one can link these ideas to language, social studies and math learning' intimates the link of book on the internet which has short preview of the book.

According to the publishers,  in consonance with the title of the book, all the articles offer simple methods of bringing science alive in the classroom and in a child's mind, often tying it to our everyday experiences and common objects that we find around us.

"After all, the principles behind processes like decantation, refraction or electromagnetism, and even complex ideas like nuclear fission, micro-gravity and climate science can be effectively demonstrated in the classroom and in nature. All it takes is for the teacher to be willing to step away from the strictures of the textbook and spend a little time thinking about the basics," points out the preview.

The article this CJ, especially written for the Teacher Plus periodical makes use of acrostics, a type of blank verse, in which the first or last letters of each line spell a word. Since they can rhythmically recited with pauses at each line break, such poems are a great way to help students remember concepts in physics, mathematics or any other subject that they may otherwise find difficult to grasp.

The article gives examples that how poems make for good pedagogical tools for classroom instruction to help children understand and remember basic concepts in physics.  Inspired by this suggestion a university student in Malaysia has written a desertion on the use acrostics for vocabulary building with longer working memory development of students.

The ebook, spread over  pages in its Kindle edition has a File Size of 2285 KB which is Word Wise: Enabled which is also available  for sale on amazon.in and can be read either on a kindle reader or a tab or phone that has a pre-installed software that will allow one to read kindle books.

It is worthwhile book for school science instructors and can work as a teacher manual to take cues from and try out innovative ways of teaching science across multiple intelligences.
