The truth behind child protective services
The job of a Public Child Protective Services (PCPS) is to identify services and develop a case plan that reduces the risk of future abuse or neglect. The problem with this is that wrong families always seem to be the ones targeted.

RECENTLY, MY 10-year-old son was told of punishment he would receive for misbehaving in the school. From thence, he decided to say he was going to kill the children whom he claims to have gotten him in trouble and then his self.

As a parent, I am aware that my son is speaking out of anger due to the disciplinary action he would have to face when he got home. I also understood why PCSA was contacted to investigate.

After their involvement, I had to protect my child from them because they felt he should be hospitalized. My son has a mother and father who are very involved in his and our other children's lives. We knew full heartedly that our child wasn’t capable of such crimes because in our culture the saying is; he would have to go through his father or I before he does anyone else any harm.

Due to our personal beliefs and rights, PCSA and I are battling. I personally spoke to my case worker discussing with her that children will say anything to get out of trouble. Her reply was: “I don’t think a child his age will make something like this up.” My response was: “No one knows what an African 'American' child would say or do at this age because no one took the time to study him within his own cultural setting. Everything is based on white America.”
