The ugly face of New Life evangelists
New reasons have emerged for the communal tension in and around Mangalore. Christian missionaries, apart from carrying out their routine conversion activities, have indulged in conversion and deriding of Hindu gods and goddess
USUALLY TRIVIAL incidents like bursting of crackers on Pakistan’s victory in cricket matches, eloping, teasing or incidents like organising religious procession, used to trigger communal violence in Mangalore. But, now, new reasons have emerged for the communal tension in and around Mangalore. Christian missionaries, apart from carrying out their routine conversion activities, have indulged in deriding the Hindu gods and goddess. This is something new in communal-prone Mangalore region.
There is prima facie evidence against New Life missionaries, indulging in illegal activities, including conversions and denigrating Hindu gods. New Life, one of the 20 missionary centres of Karnataka Missions Network, started missionary activities six years ago in the coastal areas of Dakshin Kannada district. It is actively propagating Christianity not only in India, but also in few other foreign countries through publications, advertisements and through its website.
The missionaries began publishing and distributing literature Yesu Suvarthe containing glories of Jesus Christ among the Christians in Kannada language, but slowly they indulged in conversion activities by enticing Hindus through monetary inducements and jobs. They also started deriding Hindu gods through their literature, coxing Hindus to convert to Christianity. Such communal incidents have been reported in the local Kannada newspapers, the clippings of which are uploaded in ’thegreathindu’ website.
Interestingly, conversion activities are not being propagated from the portals of churches, but from illegal prayer halls and churches around Karnataka. For instance, Karnataka government seized a shed belonging to agricultural department in Bada village in Davanagere district, which was illegally occupied by the New Life missionaries for conversion activities. The government had confiscated the property when New Life missionaries failed to prove their ownership of the land being alloted for religious activities.
According to intelligence sources, New Life has been carrying out its activities in Raichur, Bellary, Mangalore, Davanagere, Udupi, Chamarajanagar, Gadag, Chitradurga, Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts. Noted writer Dr M Chidananda Murthy also revealed that as many as 16,000 Hindus, mostly belonging to Lingayat community, have been converted in Davanagere district alone. There were 34 churches about five years ago in Davanagere district. Now there are 384 churches where the Christian population is hardly negligible. This is the sinister design of the expansionists Christians.
In fact, Bajrang Dal leader Mahendra Kumar has also said that he has been waging a war against the illegal churches and not against the Christians. He has been reported as arguing that a church can be built with the approval of diocese on the land bought by the trust or donated by the government. But New Life activists had been taking government buildings and sheds for a purpose, and later on used the same for religious propagation. This was not approved either by the government or by the diocese.

All people should save their life for eternity. This life is nothing. We have our homes there in heaven, where jesus made it ready for us. To go there we have to wash our sins with Jesus Blood which he shed on cross for all human kind. So, truth will share by anyone....

Christians sharing the truth..but it left to anyone to accept it or not. It is individual decision to accept Jesus on any one's part. But jesus God Himself..come in the form of human to save you & me....All should accept that....
And Jesus will come again to take to heaven who are ready to go with him....All dead people also get raised that day for judgement. If they did good & washed their sins with Jesus blood they will enter heaven, if not a deadly hell waiting for them....
Spirit will live..either in heaven or hell..

They shoot down innocent blacks, Indians like you and other Asian people. If you would have been in Christian nation France you would have been arrested and shot for being anti-Christian.

If your claim of illegal (by which I suppose you mean forced) conversions are true then how come there is not even a single complaint in last many years. There have been no complaints because these people invited Jesus into their heart and accepted Him as their Lord and Savior surrendered their lives to Him and His teachings based on tangible experiences like physical healing and intangible inner conviction and emotional healing. Many of these people who lived like goons have taken up positions to serve the sick and downtrodden among the community.

I was born in a so called Christian family but I did not have any personal faith in Jesus until I had a personal encounter with Him. Anybody is free to believe in Jesus.

If you choose to embrace a faith based on deep inner convictions, the law does not condemn you for the same. No one can stop anyone from believing or not believing.

Don't you feel you are blindly defending the misdeeds of Christian misionaries? To criticise these misdeeds, a crime? Is this hate propaganda? I am sorry. And refering to Mr Joseph, if you are so much concerned of poverty, you should be asking Christian missionaries to go to Christian dominated-states across the globe that are reeling under grave poverty. .Sir, get your facts straight first of all, before venturing out to write such hate propaganda. First of all, there is no new life church in Davangere. Secondly, new life started around 20 years ago in Mangalore,. Thirdly, prove your allegation of monetary inducement to conversion. Without proof, dont accuse falsely. There is no money involved in anyway. If you have proof, why dont you take it to the courts? Dont you have a conscience that tells you you are propagating lies?

Since when did conversions become an "illegal" activity? The 16,000 people who reportedly "converted" have the right to change their faith not once but even three times a day. Who is anyone to stop them? Who is anyone to stop me if I want to become an atheist? Whose permission would I need - the DC's or the CM's? This is ridiculous!
The author states that the NL has been involved in distributing "Yesu Suvarthe" which of course they have denied. But quite independently the Deccan Herald tried to contact the press where the named booklet was printed. And the startling discovery? That press has closed down 10 years ago. It is simple logic that the literature meant for distribution cannot from a closed press which is simply unable to provide the necessary supplies to its clients. There still remains the question: Known as they are for their extremely skillful planning and manipulation, could the accusers have played a game here?
Completely overlooked is the destructful/unlawful reaction of the fundamentalists which is tacitly justified by alleging a "cause".
Sure, the New Life has an "ugly" face. But it covers the devilish face of the Sangh Parivar.
