'The Uprising of 1857' by Rosie Llewellyn Jones launched by Oxford Bookstore
Secretary of the British Association for Cemeteries in South Asia, Dr Rosie Llewellyn Jones launched her new book 'The Uprising of 1857" along with Jawhar Sircar who is currently the Chairperson of Center for Studies in Social Sciences at Oxford Bookstore, Kolkata.

Dr Jones, who is a very frequent visitor to India has an expertise on Lucknow. Earlier, she had written books like ' The Last King in India: Wajid Ali Shah', 'Lucknow City of Illusion'; 'Engaging Scoundrels: True Tales of Old Lucknow'; 'A Very Ingenious Man: Claude Martin in Early Colonial India'; 'A Fatal Friendship: The Nawabs, the British, and the City of Lucknow'; and 'The Great Uprising in India, 1857-58'.

The book edited by Dr Jones consists of a rare collection of photographs provided by Alkazi Collection of Photography from their archives and published by Mapin Publishing, founded by prolific dancer and activist Mallika Sarabhai. Mapin publishing is one of those rare publishing houses only concentrated to books on Indian art, culture and literature.

'The Uprising of 1857" contains the literary and historical contribution from Shahid Amin, Zahid Chaudhary, Susan Gole, Mahmood Farooqui, Nayanjot Lahiri, Tapti Roy, Stephanie Roy Bharath and Andrew Ward.
