The Winter Fest 2013: AMU organises an open university literary fest
The Literary Society of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Hall, Aligarh Muslim University organised an open university literary fest- The Winter Fest 2013 from 30th November to 01st December 2013. As part of this literary festival various regular literary competitions like creative writing, debate, essay writing and quiz were held and students from different halls of residence participated with full vigour and enthusiasm.

However, the distinctive competitions that witnessed participation with extra zeal were Photography Competition and Political Speech Competition as they were orchestrated to provide a platform to the students who pursue photography as a hobby and the budding politicians respectively. The theme of the Political Speech Competition was "My vision for Socio-Economic Development of Muslims in India".

The valedictory ceremony was held on 1st December and was presided by Irfan Qamar, Additional District Judge. Mr. Qamar gave away the prizes and certificates to the Winners and Participants respectively. In Creative Writing Competition Syed Md. Haris, Awatansh Tripathi and Faiz Ahmad were appreciated as 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

While in Debate Competition Shalabh Sharma, Danish Farooqui and Syed Arif were adjudged as the Winner, 1st runner-up and Second runner-up respectively. The team of Shalabh Sharma and Ali Faran Gulrez won the Quiz Competition.

In essay writing competition Ms. Mina Mahmood was declared as the winner. The photograph clicked by Ms. Areeba Naseem was declared as the 'Photograph of the Fest' and the photographs clicked by Ali Jibran and Karnain Sattar were also appreciated as 2nd and 3rd. The political speeches of Tabish Iqbal, Rafiqullah Mazumdar and Shayaq Ahmad Shah were appealing and they were declared as winner, 1st-runner up and 2nd-runner up respectively.

Additional District Judge Irfan Qamar appreciated and congratulated the winners of the competition and also encouraged students to participate more often in events of public speaking so as to improvise their art of speaking.

Dr. Mohd Wasim Ali, earlier, welcomed the guest and the winners at the valedictory ceremony. The fest was organised successfully under the dynamic leadership of the Provost and his team of Wardens that include Dr. M. Kalimullah, Dr. Hashmat Ali Khan Dr. Fasih Ragib , Dr. Rehmatullah and Dr. Ehteesham.

Hussamuddin Waris, Secretary Literary Society proposed vote of thanks and praised the hercules efforts of Shah Muneeb Raza, Organising Secretary and his team comprising of Amir Suhail, Sarfraz Ahmad etc. The programme was compered by Shah Muneeb Raza.
