Think twice before tweeting about vacation plans
Though such things haven't been reported in India so far, but it is better to take a cue from Britain where a survey has found that criminals scoured the social networking sites to find out people who are away on vacation so that they can loot their houses at leisure.

Facebooking or tweeting about the mouth-watering dishes you had at dinner is fine, but next time you think of tweeting or posting on Facebook about your plans to leave on exotic vacations, think twice.

This might not be the smartest move as it leaves doors open for burglars. They not only get the opportunity to steal but can do so at leisure. Although the trend is not that high in India but it is not far behind when petty minds will catch up to the idea.

While it might appear cool for many to scribble what one will have when they reach Bali it can have a negative effect too. As was reported by zeenews.com, according to a survey of 2,000 homeowners in Britain, 35 percent advertise their vacation plans via social networking sites, while 71 percent let mail pile up or don't leave a light on while they are away. British security while researching found that many criminals scoured the social networking sites for any clues.

The most important thing a person should do if they are vacationing is leave someone in the house in their absence. If that is not an option then leave some lights on so that it might look that they are around. For over enthusiastic Facebook and Twitter users, the only advice would be to share their excitement after they come back from their vacation only.
