Third edition of Kolkata International Wildlife and Environment Film Festival kicks off from December 15
The third edition of Kolkata International Wildlife and Environment Film Festival (KIWEFF) will start in Kolkata from 15th of this month.

Green Oscar winner wildlife filmmaker Aswika Kapoor, who is also the executive director of the festival, said during the announcement session that this time they had received 2300 entries from 116 nations from all over the world.

The judges' panel includes stalwarts like actor-politician Debasree Roy, former Indian cricketer Arun Lal, who will choose 66 films out of them for screening across 6 auditoriums namely Asutosh Centenary Hall, Rotary Sadan, Gorky Sadan, Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad and two EZCC auditoriums.

Singer-cum-composer Anupam Roy composed the theme music of the festival last year while celebrated fashion designer Agnimitra Paul designed the costume of the festival. Biggies Sourav Ganguly, Soumitra Chattopadhyay and Sabyasachi Chakraborty are also associated with the festival.

KIWEFF will have six even categories namely feature film, short film, animation film, documentaries, public service announcements and newly announced student category.

The festival this year will be inaugurated by Magsaysay awardee environmentalist and conservationist couple Dr Prakash Baba Amte and Dr Mandakini Amte at Gorky Sadan. They run Amte's Animal Ark, a wildlife orphanage and sanctuary.

Inaugural proceedings will be followed by screening of German director Oliver Goetzl's film 'Jungle Book Bear', which also is been narrated by Sir David Attenborough. This year a Pakistani short film 'Arz e Pakistan' by Ali Sohail Jaura has also been nominated for screening.
