Third Front - welcome to the looming chaos 27 September, 2012
With Third front we shall see the rise of true 'federalism' that shall remind us of 'subedars' and 'nawabs' of yore who used to rule their own kingdoms and 'riyasats' at their whims and fancies not worrying about the country

WE MUST complement Mulayam Singh Yadav aka Netaji for keeping the hope alive in dismal times that have eclipsed all meaningful debates. It is a pity that news of his sterling efforts has got buried in the avalanche of our octogenarian PM’s new found enthusiasm and media’s almost orgasmic response to a few baby steps in government policy making.

Since, everybody is so busy counting the chickens before they hatch, and calculating how India would be saved by the perennial bureaucrat that our PM is, I take it upon myself to highlight the utter selfless desire of Netaji to become the PM of this hapless nation.

Our Netaji is a person who helps people in distress even if it means taking a U-turn from his proclaimed policies. He can save Nuclear Deal and help light up our homes even if that darkens our future. He can save Congress Party from the blushes by supporting its presidential candidate, breaking off from his own widely publicized friendship with Mamata didi. He can save FDI in retail by saving the government in spite of opposing it in the open. Imagine, what such a flexible person can do if he is made the PM. His only competition in U-turns is Sharad Pawar. But, even he pales into insignificance when we see Netaji’s record.

We live in the enlightened age of ‘Jugaad’, a word that has become quite respectable now. What was a necessity for survival in our Nehruvian Socialism times has now become an art on the times of crony capitalism. Erosion of national parties has further strengthened the business of jugaad in politics and business. The recent political surveys have raised the hope of small parties with their seat projections, and they hope to see their wooden horses fly. If a mediocre Inder Kumar Gujral could become PM; if a sleeping Gowda could become a PM, then why can’t our self-proclaimed socialist become the PM? He has all the credentials. He is jugaadbaaj par excellence. He is a ‘flexible’ politician who proclaims to be a socialist but has best buddies in films and industry. He can twist policies to suit his friends on either side of political and social spectrum as a true blue politician. He can snatch away his hands of friendship at any moment without any hesitation. I am sure, he shall manage the coalition compulsions better than our filibustering Congress ministers.

Netaji is true secular leader. His latest record of communal harmony is for all to see. Spate of communal riots within months of his party gaining absolute majority in UP speaks for itself. Half of them are against police and government. Bareilly can stay shut for weeks to fight police inaction and partial conduct between two communities, without our PM and CM losing their sleep. His secularism is so infectious that even media fails to report how his frustrated minority brethren can take law in their own hands and dispense riots at will. They can attack police without any fear of action. They can fight US’ bigoted policies by burning shops of their Hindu brethren and attacking all and sundry. Our Netaji’s government shall not touch them. This is the ultimate litmus test of a true blooded secular leader in India. Thus, secularism is safest in his able hands, just as socialism is.

A Neta who can take care of two most bandied terms that were inserted in Constitution in 1975, viz. secularism and socialism surely deserves to be the PM.

While Gowda and Gujral were made PMs by a caucus of Marxists and Socialists with overt support from Congress for their masterly inactivity and lack of base, the new Third Front will have a pro-active leader who shall control the alliance with a rubber hand that he can stretch or pull as the situation demands. An expert at haggling and getting value for money deals, he shall surely be able to deal with world powers better than our ex-bureaucrat turned PM. He can use his political usefulness to keep CBI at bay, can get crores of rupees for his loved CM son in the name of progress of UP, from the Centre. He has a brother guiding his CM son, who gives virtual license to be corrupt to his ‘babus’, thus showing a new path to fight corruption by legalizing it. His CM can give 24 hour power to our Rajmata and Rajkunwar’s constituencies, even as the whole UP starves for power, in lieu of some benefits to the ‘common’ people of UP. So, he can surely haggle with the US and China for better benefits for him and his friends, who also happen to be citizens of India, thus benefit Indian citizens.

When Netaji was CM of UP, we saw rise of a thriving kidnapping industry, we saw softening of draconian state machinery that could be bent to the will of any politician from lowest ward level to state level, thus ‘democratizing’ the disciplined police force vis-à-vis goondas. We saw manufacturing industry wilting under powerless state that has maximum number of massive rivers; but instead of small green hydel projects he went for coal based power generation projects that were handed over to his capitalist friends. It is a different matter that even these projects haven’t come up after years and UP is still living in dark ages.

With Third front we shall see the rise of true ‘federalism’ that shall remind us of ‘subedars’ and ‘nawabs’ of yore who used to rule their own kingdoms and ‘riyasats’ at their whims and fancies not worrying about the country. Only difference will be that instead of their paying ‘nazrana’ to the central rulers like Mughals or British; they shall command ‘nazrana’ from central government with their readiness to pull the rug and destabilize the government to extract their pound of flesh. It is a great help that he has the backing of our skilled Communist and Leftist politicians.

We shall have a PM who will flatten Indian economy with petty capitalist ideas crouched in socialist jargons and we shall be back to commanding depths of Nehruvian socialism. Such is the scenario, my friends, that beckons us as hopes of Third Front and Mulayam Singh soar. It is up to national parties now to spoil this dream party. Or else, welcome to the looming chaos!

That will be the worst day wen Mulayam Singh Yadav becomes the PM of this country. The one thing I hate in him is his vote bank loving politics.. he blindly loves a particular community ignoring even the cases of crime.
