Thirty six killed in Orissa floods, farms submerged
Incessant monsoon rains during the past one week in Orissa, has left atleast 36 people killed and lakhs of homes innundated. These people were killed after rains triggered flash floods and washed away people in low lying areas
AT LEAST 36 people are feared killed in Orissa and lakhs of homes innundated due to flash floods caused by the incessant monsoon rains during the past one week. 

Thousands of people in low lying areas were left stranded, when flooded rivers breached embankments and damaged farms across many districts in the state. Meteorological office have predicted more rain in the state, which is likely to unleash further destruction fears the state government. 

While asserting that relief and rescue measures are being taken up, the state government admitted that there were 36 deaths, while few thousand people were also displaced. 

These people were killed after rains triggered flash floods and washed away people in low lying areas. At least 10,000 hectares of rice paddy has been estimated to be damaged in the floods.

People in several areas have been forced to move to several places but in some rural areas they were seen on the rooftops waiting for the water to recede . In towns and suburban areas, similar conditions prevailed with knee-deep water on the roads and streets.
