Thousands of people in Delhi are in need of help to cope with the severe chill that is sweeping the city, making it very difficult for many needy and homeless to pass the night without serious threat to life. To give help in this situation NDTV has partnered with the Uday Foundation, a non-profit organisation, to distribute blankets to those who need them.
WITH NORTH India in the grip of one of the most coldest winters in history, and hundreds already dead from the severe cold, there is urgent need to help those to whom access to warm clothing is not available.
Since Uday Foundation is not registered with FCRA, it is not accepting foreign donations. It accepts donations from Non Resident Indians only through any bank account operational in India. Contributions made by a citizen of India living in another country, from his personal savings, through the normal banking channels, is not treated as foreign contribution.
Once a person has made the donation, he or she can share the details and write to firstname.lastname@example.org, along with complete address and PAN card no, enabling the foundation to send a 80G tax exemption receipt of the same. For details, those interested, can email at email@example.com, and read more about Uday Foundation at www.udayfoundationindia.org. Those desiring to donate blankets can also drop them off at the NDTV office in Delhi's Great Kailash-I area between 8 am and 9 pm.
