Thousands of Dalits protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi against cast-based violence
The reality of Yogi Adityanath's governance in the state of Uttar Pradesh seems to have broken the cracks and exposed itself to the world.

Thousands of Dalits are protesting against the recent caste based violence in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur.

Along with several organisations participating in the protests, the Bhim Army is leading the protests. Bhim Army is an orgaisation that is fighting for the rights of the Dalit communities.

The protests went ahead despite denial of permission by the Delhi police and presence of Bhim Army founder Chandrashekhar, a person declared as 'wanted' by the Uttar Pradesh police.

Te protests are against a Dalit village being burnt and ransacked in Saharanpur. The Dalits were attacked because a Thakur man was killed in clashes that erupted following the objection made by the Dalits to the Thakurs playing loud music during a procession to mark the upcoming birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap. The Dalits had even said that the procession did not have the necessary permission.

The attack had resulted in more than two dozen houses being burned down and over fifteen men being injured.

After taking no action for weeks altogether, the police later arrested five members of the Bhim Army and booked Chandrashekhar for instigating violence among different communities.

"Now that the government is trying to deprive the Dalits of their democratic right to hold a peaceful rally and put forward their demands and grievances, people will reach the venue tomorrow (Sunday) at any cost and if stopped from assembling, we will hold a larger rally soon," Times of India quoted Ashok Bharti, a Dalit activist who is also participating in the protests.
