Nationalist Congress Party candidate Ganesh Naik has been able to retain his Belapur seat. His elder son Sanjeev has won the parliamentary polls and his younger son Sandeep has won the Airoli seat. Thus the first family of Naiks gets three cheers.
AFTER ELDER son Sanjeev Naik, has won the parliamentary polls, Ganesh Naik and his younger son Sandeep have been able to make it to the assembly by clinching both the assembly seats from the city, Airoli and Belapur. The Naiks underlined their supremacy in Navi Mumbai politics.
Minister in the incumbent Ashok Chavan cabinet and sitting Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA, Ganesh Naik, retained his Belapur seat by overcoming tough challenges put up by Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Suresh Haware and other assembly aspirants.
While his younger son Sandeep surpassed Navi Mumbai Shiv Sena chief Vijay Chauguley in Airoli, Ganesh Naik's elder son Sanjeev is already an MP from Thane.
