But after the appeal from Chief Minister, Kiran Kumar Reddy the AP Transco has ensured the power supply to to essential services like drinking water, hospitals, street lighting and Railways to the extent possible. The state is already suffering with the loss caused due to the flooding in Rayalseema Thermal power station, and now this strike by the power sector employees will impact the southern power grid.
When asked about the plans or steps to be taken during the three days strike by the power utilities, Mr. Chadda said, “The grid balance will have to be maintained by increasing load reliefs according to the generation. In case of a generating station even a small number of employees remaining off work can lead to the generation being stopped. Also, due to the strike, sub-stations as well as the entire transmission machinery will be hit. We will have to go on increasing load relief depending on the situation, to protect the grid,” reported Deccan Chronical.
