Three hours continuous rain chokes Ferozepur's sewerage system
While it was a relief from the high temperature and scorching heat, the three hours continuous rain in the city disrupted the life as most of the areas of the city were flooded with kneed-deep water due to choking of sewerage system.

The most affected areas were Mall Road, Old Court Complex, Bagdadi Gae Road, Basti Shekhan and Basti Bhattian. Even the newly constructed District Administrative Complex (DAC) was filled with water.  Life in the city and offices on July 18 and July 19 was totally disrupted due to heavy rain and people who had come from outstations for some domestic and official works have to go back.

Expressing concern over the arrangements of the district administration in the court complex Gajjan Singh Kamboj, President Bar Association and other members of the bar said, “Though temporary sheds have been provided to the advocates but there are no arrangements for the out-flow of rain water which has totally stopped the working in the court.

Speaking on this occasion, Inderjit Singh Gogia, President, NGOs Coordination Committee, Ferozepur Unit alongwith Dr. Diwan Chand Sukhija, M.S.Dhami, Ashok Bajaj, Mangat Rai, said, “Despite pointing out to the Municipal Council well before the rainy season, to improve the sewerage system in the city, no action has been taken and number of consequences are involved with the flood like situation after three hours continuous rain in the city like supply of contaminated water with mixing of water supply pipes, water-borne diseases etc.

They further said, “The district administration should give priority to improving the sewerage system in the city so that people could live a normal life even during the rainy days”.
