Three members of a family were charred to death in Telegaon village under Kariolopata Panchayat in Kendrapara district, 80 km from capital city Bhubaneswar on Tuesday night.
THE DECEASED were identified as Akhaya Patnaik, his son Kalandi Patnaik and daughter Madhusmita Patnaik. Police suspects the incident might be a case of murder. The circumstantial evidence indicates that the case could be a planned killing using 'kerosone oil', fire officer at Korua, Dolagobinda Sethi, told media.
The police has sent the bodies to district headquarter hospital for post-mortem. Rest of the details would be clear after the results arrive.
Akhaya’s daughter Monalisha Pradhan lodged an FIR at Patkura police station in this regard. She alleged that the incident was the fall out of a land dispute between her father and his elder brother Bijay Patnaik.
