Three people held for selling spurious Fortwin injections in Hyderabad
On August, 27, 2016, on credible information, Commissioner's Task Force, South Zone Team, Hyderabad with the assistance of Drug Inspector, Charminar Zone, Hyderabad apprehended three accused persons, namely S Prakash, S Sailesh and Md Abdul Majeed Khan who were found indulged in procuring and selling pharmaceutical drug ie spurious Fortwin injections illegally without any doctor's prescription, invoice and earning easy money.

Names and addresses of accused persons:

1. S. Prakash S/o Late S Narayana, aged 43 years, works at Vishnu Medical Hall at Malkajigiri R/o Vaninagar, Malkajigiri.

2. S Sailesh S/o Late S Nagaraju, aged 34 years, working as sales agent, R/o back side Omega Hotel, Sainikpuri, Hyderabad.

3. Md Abdul Majeed Khan alias Viqar S/o Late Md Mansoor Khan, aged 40 years, working as a security guard, R/o Chanchalguda, Bagezahara, Hyderabad.

4. Surender R/o Tirupati (absconding).   

Property seized: 

216 Fortwin ampoules. 

Brief facts: 

The brief facts of the case are that, the accused S Prakash, proprietor of Vishnu Medical Hall at Malkajigiri was having contact with one Surender, who is said to be running a medical shop at Tirupati.  Surender used to supply Fortwin injections on verbal orders without any valid invoice through courier for Rs 600 per box (Each box containing 12 Ampoules, while the original cost of each ampoule is Rs 5.58). Prakash used to sell the same to his known customers who were drug addicts for Rs 1,000 per box. 

Three months back the accused Md Abdul Majeed came in contact with Prakash through one Sailesh and procured the said Fortwin ampoules from Prakash, and started selling them to his addicted customers on the retail price with 100 per cent margin and sometimes even more than that, depending upon the situation. 

Fortwin injection is a pain killer generally used in major surgeries and that too under the supervision of an Anesthesian. But the accused persons were misusing the injections and selling them to addicted persons without any prescription, invoice for earning easy money. The continuous usage of this drug can lead to chronic problems like cardiac arrest, shortening of breath, fits, lack of hunger etc, and thereby endangering human life.    

The accused persons and seized property have been handed over to Reinbazar PS for taking necessary action. The above arrest was made under the supervision of Sri N Koti Reddy, Addl Dy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner's Task Force, Hyderabad, Sri A Yadagiri, Inspector of Police, South Zone Task Force, Sri Md Rafhi Shaik, Drug Inspector, Charminar Zone, Sri N Srishylam, B Madhusudan, G Mallesh and Sk Jakeer Hussain and the staff of South Zone Task Force, Hyderabad City.
