A riot broke out near Gurgaon after a man in Tauru, a town 32 km away from Gurgaon, died in a road accident on Sunday. The death instigated riots for over four hours, leaving 15 people injured.

Apart from rioting, plundering, the mobs were firing at each and they also vandalized shops and vehicles. The entire place was in an upheaval till the time the authorities announced curfew at the place. The local people claimed that as many as three people died in the rioting.

As was reported by the, Haryana DGP Shriniwas Vashisht, IG south range S S Kapur, Gurgaon police commissioner Alok Mittal, and SDM, Nuh, Trilok Chand also went to Tauru to help restore order. The area comes under Gurgaon parliamentary constituency and the police claimed that no one died in the act.

It was also said that due to immediate inaction by the police, rioting increased and went on for quite some time. The riot was trigged when a dumper knocked two men down at 7:30 am on a bike on Pataudi Road. A person called Dhanveer Singh, a 22 years old labourer lost his life.

As the incident happened, the locals started beating the driver of the dumper and his assistant. As these two men lay bleeding on the road, some policemen tried to take them to a hospital, but no one allowed that.

Withing seconds, or so it seemed these people cordoned off the area with dumpers. A shopkeeper, who was bearing witness says, ''It was unbelievable that the attackers were firing gunshots in the presence of 40 or so armed policemen for so long and the cops did nothing.'' The drivers were rushed to the hospital. Soon the situation was under control.
