Three unidentified people on Tuesday raped a 17 year old girl in front of her male friend. According to the girl, her friend was held at knife-point when she was being raped from 2:45 am to 5:45 am.

THREE UNIDENTIFIED men on Tuesday raped a 17 year old girl from 2:45 am to 5:45 am continuously. The incident is reported to have taken place in the Kalyan railway station premises in front of her male friend, who was held at knife point by the accused.

Reports stated that the incident took place in an area between platform number one and the reservation office and no security personnel were present in the station when the girl was being raped.

An official apprised with the incident said that the girl, a resident of Khambalpada had gone to meet a friend in Pune and had taken the Mumbai mail, which has a stoppage at the Kalyan station at 2:30 am. She supposedly told the official that she had gone to Pune to meet a person whom she had recently befriended on a social networking site and as there would be no trains available to take her to Dombivli at that time, she had asked a male friend to meet her at Kalyan station. They preferred to wait for the morning train instead of travelling home by road.

A senior police inspector at the Kalyan GRP, Arun Jagtap said that the victim along with her friend were walking on the platform when they were apprehended by the three people and raped the girl in turns in nearby bushes and shrubs located adjacent to the reservation office.

He further stated that The accused fled the spot while the girl and her friend went to the Kalyan GRP to file a complaint. Subsequently, the victim was sent to Rukminibai Hospital for a medical examination, where initial reports confirmed that she was raped.
