'Tiger' Narendra joins hands with elephant
Former TRS member, ‘Tiger’ Narendra finally took the plunge and joined BSP recently in a bid to be back in active politics in Andhra Pradesh. He is now back into the groove after lying low for a brief period due to an unproven human trafficking case.
FORMER CENTRAL Minister and MP from Andhra Pradesh, A Narendra joined Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on January 6 this year in the presence of Mayawati at Hyderabad.
Narendra was a hardcore RSS (Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh) activist, and was previously a member of the TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi). He is popularly known as ‘Tiger’ among his followers and party cadre. Narendra was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2004 elections from Medak constituency of Andhra Pradesh under the TRS banner. Very soon, he took oath as a central minister in UPA government. After one and half years, TRS withdrew from UPA government. At that time Narendra also resigned his post.
Gradually, TRS chief K Chandra Sekhararao started differing with Narendra’s attitude. He gave many warnings to Narendra. But Narendra did not pay heed to the party warnings and continued with his controversial statements. He was then suspended from TRS. After that he formed a new party TRS (Narendra) with his followers.
Since the last six months he has kept low in state politics as four months back his name came out in a human trafficking case. But it has not been proved till now.
Narendra began his political career with RSS. He was identified as a hardcore RSS volunteer. Due to his dashing nature, he was nicknamed as Tiger Narendra. Till 2003 he played a key role in BJP. Just before 2004 general elections, he came out from BJP. He then started a forum to achieve Telangana separate state. While the movement was at its peak, he merged his forum in TRS Party.
He became the focal point of controversial statements numerous times. For the past couple of months he had been discussing his political career with his followers.
Finally on January 2, he decided to join the BSP in a meeting convened by his followers. He would join BSP in the presence of Uttar Pradesh chief minister and party supremo, Mayawati. The State BJP unit conducted a meeting on January 6 at Hyderabad. BSP head Mayawati also attended the meeting. Narendra and his followers joined BSP on that day in a big way.
