Steve Williams, who is Tiger Woods former caddie, has come up with a controversial comment, when asked about his controversial celebrations, when his new employer, Adam Scott won the Bridgestone Invitational. He said 'My aim was to shove it right up that black.....'
THE FORMER caddie of Tiger Woods, the New Zealander Steve Williams has been known in his past for his controversies. During an annual caddie awards at the HSBC Champions in Shanghai, he once again came into the limelight as his comments got everyone talking. When he was asked about his controversial celebrations, when his new employer, Adam Scott won the Bridgestone Invitational, he replied by saying “My aim was to shove it right up that black --------.”, as reported by telegraph.co.uk. Here, he is referring to Tiger Woods. One wonders, was he trying to show his anger to Tiger Woods, who removed him as his caddie on July.
There are several reports that suggest he had uttered those words in humour. But, it has not been taken lightly by most media people. One may say that he is one of the most experienced caddie going around in the circuit, but he has to know where should he draw the line, even if it is the so called ‘humour’. Especially, if one is talking about Tiger Woods as stories related to him become an instant hit over night.
Williams, as a caddie had a terrific record with Tiger Woods, as he won around 13 majors carrying his bag, which was a matter of pride. But, his outburst does not reflect that the caddie has been successful with him. He was Tiger Woods’ caddie from 1999 to 2011. It was during his tenure that he was one of the top ranked golfers of that time.
Their relationship with one another did not seem that bad, as Woods even took time out from his personal life so as to attend Williams marriage at New Zealand in 2005. The caddie was very protective about the golfer. Once, it has been said that he even threw someone’s camera into a pond, as he was trying to take a picture of him when Woods was in his golf swing.
It’s really interesting to note, what really made the caddie jump the gun and say things that would draw him as the negative person. Surely, this would have a negative impact in his career.
