Time to get speedier justice via satellite
A dedicated satellite will speed up the process of communication enabling many reportable judgments pronounced in various courts reach the legal fraternity in the shortest possible time, which will be a big boon for the judicial system.
IT IS a encouraging to learn that space science will help the judiciary in the speedy disposal of more than three crore cases lying pending in the Indian courts. Currently under normal circumstances, the backlog of legal cases would take more than 100 years to be disposed off, as per a report.

Recently, Kerala High Court, Chief Justice S R Bannurmath had suggested that an exclusive judicial satellite could speedily address the pending cases. The chief justice while delivering the keynote address at a meeting recently, remarked, "The proposed Justice Satellite will interlink all the courts in the country, from Supreme Court to the lower level courts. This will facilitate speedy transfer of data, information and other legalities."
One of the judges present said: "This is a revolutionary concept which can go a long way in getting rid of the backlog of cases in our courts."

A dedicated satellite will speed up the process of communication enabling many reportable judgments pronounced in various courts across the country reach the legal fraternity in the shortest possible time, which will be a big boon for the judicial system.

It would be worthwhile to mention here about the need to revisit the suitable clauses with regard to adjudication of cases; one of the primary reason for a legal case to get prolonged indefinitely is the loophole existing in adjudication of cases, which are cleverly enforced by vested interest.
The interpretation should be such that adjudication should be allowed only for valid reasons with solid proof; it would also be in fitness of things if adjudication is allowed for a certain reduced number of times (than the one existing) to speed up the whole issue.

It is also found many times that witness turn hostile in due course of time, the primary reason being the legal case getting inordinately delayed. It is also found that witnesses don't have proper seating arrangement in many courts.

Let's hope with the help of a dedicated satellite for judiciary, many aspects governing the legal system will be modernised. The country should also open the doors for foreign legal players to come to India which would again help in professionalising the legal system much to the benefit of an average litigant.
