A New York city policeman in plainsclothes shot dead a young man on Thursday morning at Times Square after the man opened fire on the official. The deceased is believed to be part of a gang which intimidated tourists and was loaded with an automatic pistol.
The shooting took place near the parking garage of Marriott Marquis hotel around 11 am at 46th street, which is a tourist haven.
