Tips for making no or low cost micro-learning video films with smart phone camera to enliven classrooms
Digital technology available in smart phones has made it possible for films to be shot and edited with minuscule budgets or even with no budget at all.

All you need to have is relevant and compelling content or story called the screenplay. If you are making a classroom lesson-based video film of 1 to 10 minutes, work on the subject matter based screenplay. You need not hire a studio or other equipment.

According to expert micro-learning video film makers, the content, story or screenplay have four main elements which are built into the course material itself.

Firstly, your story must have characters with a specific goal which can be teachers and students. Secondly, your story should have a usual classroom setting. Thirdly, there are the actions of the main characters and finally there is dialogue delivery for which the teacher has to practice a bit.

The trick for the teacher to become a good storyteller is to weave these four elements together seamlessly. When the teachers as screenplay writers achieve this, we say they have mastered the craft of storytelling.

The two expensive components in a film shoot are a camera and the locations. For classroom lessons based micro-learning video, the teacher is the main character and the location is the readily available classroom with good lighting and hence it becomes a low cost recording.

If you can reduce the number of locations or eliminate them altogether, then you as teacher are a huge step closer to reducing your budget to zero cost.

Good clean sound with interesting effects is the quickest way to make your images versatile teaching aid even for those micro-leaning films shot with smart phone camera.
