Tips for taking reasonable selfies
Selfies, self-clicked portraits, have been in the news lately with people having smart phones. With solo selfies, you're the only variable and must learn to use your phone camera smartly. To take reasonable selfies, you need to spend more time in practicing this type of photography since you are going to photograph yourself.

First of all, choose a well-lit area as an essential element for selfies. Best is to use natural light, though you can use artificial light to fill shadows with colour correction.

For taking a shot of yourself, pose with a nice background if available. Nature always makes a fairly nice background like a blossoming bush of flowers. If nature is not your thing, you could stay indoors and take a selfie in your room. Display something interesting in the background like a poster, lamp stand, painting, bookshelf, display window, etc., as long as it is not distracting.

Smile at and for the camera ranging from a closed-mouth coy smile to flattering wide smile to laughing grin. When taking a selfie, stick with honest poses. Angle your face slightly with neck straight and chin a bit down. Hold the camera in extended arm at ten to thirty degrees inclination. The camera should look down on you. This way, selfie will be more interesting aesthetically than a straight-on photo.

Thus, for a reasonable selfie, tilting your face with three-fourth facing the camera is a great way to go. And this is where your camera timer comes in handy. At times, you may like to prop your camera on something and hit the timer button to get a selfie.

So the most important aspect taking selfies is to learn your angles through experimentation. Play around with the camera and take a few shots to practice with different angles. Thus, the most important tip in taking selfies is to take photos from above with slight down-tilt of the camera.
