Today is Sindhi Language Day: Sindhu community needs a Sindhi channel, welfare schemes
Today (10th April) is Sindhi Language Day. Sindhi community will celebrate the 48th anniversary of World Sindhi Language day today. Sindhi is the language of the Sindh region (it was important part of undivided nation of India, now it is part of Pakistan).
On the basis of Hindu faith /religion, our great leaders including Gandhi and Nehru forcefully compelled Hindu population to leave the own native place to settle any other nook and corner of the Hindustan). The pathetic blood shade, slaughtering and forcible migration cannot be forgotten and forgiven by Hindu/Sindhu population of the world. The horrible pictures of that Hind-Pak partition are pretty good enough to bring tears in every eye who so ever sees the heart failing pictures.

As I described that Sindhi is the language of Sindhu community and spoken by Sindhi people all over the world. In India, this language was recognised in the Eighth schedule on 10th April 1967 in the Indian Constitution and it is among the 22 constitutionally recognized languages.

The partition means massive exchange of population based on faith/religion that took place in the summer of 1947 was unprecedented. It left behind a trail of death, slaughters, bloodshed, starvation, murders, handicappers, and destruction. The Indian map was slashed to make way for a new country - Pakistan. Some people say "India- Pak Partition is - Gift of Father (Bapu) and Uncle (Chacha) of India.

Here I do not want to throw light on bitter facts faced by our ancestors. Even the blunder of not taking half Sindh (like half Punjab and half Bengal ) was not demanded by our so called great leaders. Every culture, language, literature, heritage, music, poetry, moral values etc, survived with piece of region.

We Sindhis do not have any land or state. Even for our language survival, not any Sindhi Channel has been provided to us. Like other communities our people do not get awards nominated by state governments. We do not have any reservation in assemblies and Parliament. Even lesser populated Anglo -Indians get such reservations and rights. We have great role in bringing more foreign exchange. Our community provide more opportunities of employment. Our role in generating national income is very important. Still the things are unchanged.

The question arises that who will listen to our grief of making us rootless and stateless? We have some great hopes with the present government, at least provide us a Sindhi channel so that our children can learn Sindhi and sing songs in our mother tongue. This is our fundamental right and duty of the government to do the needful.

On 10th April 1967, at the time of inclusion of the Sindhi language in constitution, former Prime Minister Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee said, "Hindi is my mother tongue and Sindhi is my mother's sister tongue and so is my Mausi's tongue." In the government of BJP, the present Prime Minister should give respect to feelings and emotions of Sindhi people and for the sake of the promotion of the language a Sindhi channel should be provided.
