Today's Neta ji's vision for Aam Admi
A leading party of UP has come out with a manifesto saying that if they come to power, they will ban computers and will abolish all public schools including teaching of English in the country. This is happening to a country that is world lead
ALL THE party manifestos are out. The nation has already voted for 134 seats of the Parliament. The second round of voting will also take place shortly. After reading some of the manifestos released by various political parties and listening to the speeches of the ‘Neta jis’ aspiring to become the leaders presiding over the destiny of this country, it is difficult to believe that we are a sixty-year-old democracy and electing our 15th Parliament.

India is the youngest country in the world, having more than 40 million youth below the age of 30. They are nurturing the dreams typical of young, are full of energy and bubbling with enthusiasm of the youth. Instead of guiding and motivating this positive energy of youth for better performance, a leading party of Uttar Pradesh has come out with a manifesto saying that if they come to power, they will ban the computer and will abolish all public schools including teaching of English in the country.

This is happening to a country that is world leader in Information Technology. The ‘Neta ji’ does not stop here, he and his party in the same vein also say that use of farm machinery is also a no-no because it takes away jobs. It is back to bullock carts. After this, if someone calls us a ‘Banana Republic’ surely we do not have any right to take an offence.

At the time of our Independence, the state of Uttar Pradesh use to be the cradle of education. Most of the famous Universities of India were located in UP. Thanks to Indian Netas’ vision, bulks of these Universities have gone to dogs with their degrees amounting to nothing now. UP today has the biggest numbers of literate-illiterates. Realising the importance of English language, its relevance in Information Technology and its International acceptance, every small or big town in UP today is doing roaring business in road side schools of indifferent standing teaching spoken English and pocketing hefty fee form public. The current BSP government has now very rightly made English compulsory in primary school level curriculum. So the main opposition party wants to ban it. Jai Ho ‘Neta ji’.

What is even worse is the type of discourses that ‘Neta ji’s of India are giving to the public in their rallies from the raised platforms. Lot of them are playing religion card, others are busy in divide and rule concept. Almost all of them are taking recourse to self-praise and individual bashing of their opponents. Cast is still more important than the competence.

Some of them are unabashedly comparing themselves to Obama sans the knowledge, leadership qualities and oratorical skills of Obama. A particular ‘Neta ji’ is demanding that she should be made Prime Minister of India because she is a ‘Dalit Ki Beti’. Now what connection exists between a ‘Dalit Ki Beti’ and the competence to become a Prime Minster?

Crores of rupees are being spent in organising rallies being attended by lakhs of people. These are the biggest opportunities and platforms from where these Netas can interact directly with masses on burning issues facing the country like the current economic recession, lack of jobs, rampant corruption eating the vitals of the country, terrorism, billions of dollars of black money stashed away in Swiss Banks, lack of education opportunities, lack of basic developmental infrastructure, lack of health care and what have you. This opportunity, which comes once in five years is being squandered.

What is being talked about is who is ‘Buriha’ and who is ‘Guria’.

There is no doubt that for this vast divide between the leader and the-led, a major portion of the blame goes to the people of India who continue to accept this tamasha and uninformed discourses.

What we need now is, Indian youth shouldering their responsibilities and telling these ‘Tauji’ and ‘Pitaji’ Netas to give way and retire gracefully. Each Party must be held accountable for their manifestos and unfulfilled promises in the court of law if necessary.

After two and half years, there should be a referendum held in the country to judge the performance of the Government in power. If more than fifty per cent of Indian population put their thumbs down in this referendum than there should be re-elections. Time has come, for us Indians, to give serious thought to the future of ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha Hindustan Hamara’.
