Token number system should be encouraged at railway reservation centers
It has been seen at many reservation centers of various railway stations that passengers have to stand in a queue for buying a railway ticket (including confirmation, cancellation, tatkal, general and so on), and depending on the season and demand, this queue only gets longer.
However, in a few select reservation centers like Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (formerly known as Victoria Terminus) in Mumbai the queue system has been replaced by customer friendly token number system. Here a passenger needs to fill in the form and then approach a dedicated counter to ascertain his token number and also to know whether confirmed tickets are freely available on a particular date to help him not to go in for tatkal mode of ticketing.
He need not stand in any queue and once his token number is flashed with directions for a particular counter number, he then approaches the concerned counter and gets his job done. This is all done rather easily.
Based on the above, more and more reservation centers in India should come up with token number system to free passengers from the burden of standing in a queue for getting their tickets.
