Top 5 movies of Mani Ratnam
Famous for contributing his great work in Hindi and Tamil movie industries, Mani Ratnam returns home after being released from Delhi hospital. Late Tuesday night he complained about chest pain after which he had been hospitalized. It is reported that his condition is stable and nothing serious happened to him as he went their for routine check-up.

Padma Shri award winner director gained popularity when his movie Bombay turned out to be a blockbuster hit in 1995. Mani Ratnam's movies are known for their real life stories, larger than life canvas, different treatment backed by great music. Let's take a look at the various movies of  Mani Ratnam and his contribution to Indian cinema - 

Roja (1992)

Co-written and directed by Mani Ratnam, Roja  is a Indian political drama-romance film. Originally made in Tamil, the movie was dubbed in four other languages like, Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam and Telugu. Roja depicted the human relationships against a Indian political background and terrorism in Kashmir. It won three National Film Awards and even gained international acclamation.

Bombay (1995)

The story line of this movie surrounded around the controversy of Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya which led communal riots in Bombay. Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala starrer Bombay depicted the love story between a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl in the backdrop of communal violence. As heart touching as the love story was, Bombay managed to send across a strong message to the audience.

Dil Se (1998)

Though not a runaway hit, Dil Se proved to be a heart touching story for many. 'Chaiya Chaiya', the song that filmed on top of a moving train became a cult in Indian cinema and brought both the singer Sonu Nigam and choreographer Farah Khan to limelight.

Guru(2007)

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Guru is an Indian biographical movie. The story of this movie based on business magnet and founder of Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani's life. Through out the movie one can witness the struggle and hard work of Dhirubhai who gave his best to survive in the industry.

Raavan(2010)

This Indian thriller movie was written, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam. Though it failed to create ripples in the box office but one can witness the remarkable direction skills of Ratnam in this movie. In this movie again he starred Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The movie was released in other regional languages too.

Apart from these, Mani Ratnam also gave his best in Tamil Cinema by directing movies like O Kadhal Kanmani, Waves etc.
