Top 5 strikers who will miss FIFA World Cup 2014
Each and every footballer dreams of representing their nation in the World Cup, which takes place once every four years. Brazil is set to host the mega event from June 12, 2014. Due to one reason or the other, some players are not going to fulfill their dream of playing in the prestigious competition in Brazil.

Some countries may not have qualified, hence the nation's star player would miss the competition, while some players might have been overlooked by their managers. But, many of the players unfortunately, miss the competition due to injuries, which is even more disappointing.

Let's look at the top five goal scorers who would be missing the tournament. Radamel Falcao, Ibrahimovic, Christian Benteke, Carlos Tevez and Landon Donovan.

Radamel Falcao

Country : Colombia

Reason for missing the World Cup: Injury

Colombia would be missing their biggest star in the competition, Radamel Falcao. The player tore his anterior cruciate ligament, ACL in January and was gradually recovering from the injury, which normally takes more than 8 months to recover. But, it was said that the player was recovering quickly enough to make it to the World Cup squad. But, the manager, Jose Pekerman did not pick him for the prestigious event, as Pekerman felt it is better to pick a fit player.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Country: Sweden

Reason for missing the World Cup: Sweden failed to qualify

When Sweden played Portugal in their world cup play-off, it was evident, either the brilliance of Portugal's Ronaldo or Ibrahimovic would be missed, depending upon the outcome of the match. Unfortunately, it was Sweden who lost the game establishing Ibrahimovic's absence from the competition.

Though, many would feel happy to see Ronaldo in Brazil, for the sheer brilliance he possesses, but the world is surely going to miss the 'genius' of Ibrahimovic.

Christian Benteke

Country: Belgium

Reason for missing the World Cup: Injury

Though, there are a host number of stars in the Belgium national squad, but the nation is going to miss the services of their striker, Christian Benteke, who ruptured an Achilles tendon in April. After a good performance in the qualifying stages, Belgium were pinning their hopes on the strong Aston Villa striker, who could have been fruitful.

But, goal scorers such as Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas need to take over the baton and produce goals to help their team progress further in the competition.

Carlos Tevez

Country : Argentina

Reason for missing the World Cup: Overlooked by Manager

Argentina possesses some of the best players in the tournament with a potent attacking line up, so much so that Carlos Tevez has not even found a place in Argentina's squad, which is surprising. The player has been in brilliant form for Juventus in Serie A, which makes his absence from the team even more astonishing.

Alejandro Sabella, Argentina's manager may not have picked the player for footballing reasons, but for his attitude and behaviour, which has got him into trouble and controversies in the past. The Argentinean manager does not want controversies to affect the team's performance.

Landon Donovan

Country: USA

Reason for missing the World Cup: Overlooked by Manager

Donovan is another player, who has been left out of the US' squad by Jurgen Klinsmann, their manager. There was a mixed reaction amongst fans and critics after the exclusion of Donovan from the world cup squad.

Donovan is one of the best strikers for US, though his age, 32, might have slowed him down. But, his experience of playing in the past three world cups would have only made the situation better for the US. It seems that Donovan's run with world cup has also come to an end with this snub.
