Top BJP leaders attend rally in Assam, ask for support
The top national leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) assembled here today in a public rally held at Nehrubali in Assam's Nagaon district .
THE TOP national leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) assembled here today in a public rally held at Nehrubali in Assam’s Nagaon district. After a formal prayer by the party leaders at Batadrava, the leaders landed at Nagaon around 1.30 pm and were greeted by BJP MP Rajen Gohain with Gamusa. While addressing the public, Bijoya Chakravarty appealed the voters for their support for the up coming assembly election which is scheduled to be held in the month of April 2011. Chakravarty criticised the Tarun Gogoi led Congress government which, he said, has done nothing for the development of the state. She also criticised Assam Forest & Tourism minister Rockybul Hussain and appealed the voters to mark end of the Congress government who are totally corrupt. The Congress never wants to end the Bangladeshi influx issue as these illegal migrants are helping the Congress party at the time of going to poll. While Varun Gandhi in his speech said that he dreams for a corruption free government in Assam and hopes that the people of Nagaon would definitely help in fulfilling his dream. He said, “We will provide social security and justice to all the people of Assam if we would be elected to form government.” He also said that the illegal migrants in the state are not the only problem of Assam but it’s a national problem. He further said that the present state government has provided land and ration cards to the Bangladeshis to convert them as permanent citizens to get help at the time of election. The youth icon of BJP also announced that they would provide Rs 25,000/- for the marriage of girls of poor Indian families if they come to power. He declared that Congress cannot build a developed nation with modern infrastructure as there are many potholes. The General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party Bijoy Goel, who also accompanied Varun for the rally told that about more than 40 lakh Bangaldeshis are living illegally in Assam. By paying his tribute to Gopinath Bordoloi, he said Gopinath Bordoloi was the person who stood against inclusion of Assam with Bangladesh. He criticized his son who has been continuously supporting the Bangladeshis. He said, “Congress government is only for Bangladeshis and not for the real Indians.” The rally was concluded with the speech presented by the BJP president, Nitin Gadkari, who pointed to the problems being faced by poor farmers.
