Toronto waterfront in Canada is popular holiday destination for tourists
The visitors and tourists to Toronto, the capital city of Canada, love to spend the day at the Toronto waterfront, so did I during my visit in 2016, which is the lakeshore of Lake Ontario. It is one the great lakes of the world that spans about 46 kilometres.

Toronto city is located from the east and west of the lake with residential suburbs. In the west direction of the Humber River, outside the city limits, the waterfront is mainly private land fronting the lake.

The Sunnyside lakefront has recreational park and exhibition grounds. The lake shores have the harbour area and parklands of which the Victoria Park is most famous. The CN Tower, Rogers Centre, Convention Centre, cultural and recreational units, office buildings and numerous condominium residential buildings are along the lakeshore.

Besides the parks, there are high end shops and restaurants by the lake side, the Harbourfront Centre, a large cultural centre is spread over 10 acres of land. Leslie Street Spit is today a popular park and birding area. Here one can do nature photography. There is a series of four connected beaches which also attract holiday tourists as a popular section of the lakeshore.

The Toronto Islands, a chain of small natural islands, form the southern border of the Inner Harbour. Most of the islands are today parklands, with a handful of permanent inhabitants. The western-most island has an airport which is linked to the mainland by a ferry at Bathurst Street.

Because of being located on the lakeshore, Toronto is a prominent centre for music, theatre, cultural fairs, film production and media outlets. Its varied cultural institutions such as museums and galleries; festivals and public events; entertainment districts; national historic sites, and water sports activities, attract over 25 million tourists each year, it is estimated.
