Tough job to fill Delhi Metro Chief E Sreedharan's shoes
As Delhi Metro Chief E Sreedharan is scheduled to retire on December 31, the hunt for the new chief has begun with 6 people already shortlisted for the post. But how will the new chief, who ever is selected, fare as E Sreedharan has raised the bar forever

THE HUNT for the new Delhi Metro chief is on and six persons have been shortlisted for the post, who would be appearing for an interview on the 14th of October.  There were around 35 candidates who wanted to grab the post hence, they applied for it, but only six have been shortlisted as reported by The Times of India. It would be interesting to see if the new person, whoever is selected would be able to fit into E Sreedharan shoes, who has been doing a great job with the Delhi Metro.

E Sreedharan who is scheduled to retire on December 31 has been playing a major role in the development of Delhi Metro, and has been applauded for his work as a Delhi Metro Chief by various sectors. People in Delhi have benefitted a huge deal after Delhi Metro came into being in the year 2002. One important question crops up, what important things would the new Metro Chief plan so as to make the Delhi Metro look better infrastructure wise and also easier for people travelling in the Metro. Would he take Delhi Metro to the next level? Would he prove to be a success or a failure?

Delhi Metro has become the lifeline for Delhites and for the people of NCR region - as it witnesses around more than 1.8 million passengers boarding the Metro. Most of the credit for Metro's present iconic status goes to E Sreedharan, who has been giving special attention to various needs of the passengers. Earlier, these trains used to have only four coaches, but due to the increase in the number of passengers, they have introduced 6 coaches trains in some routes. Delhi Metro has been making profit, so the new Chief will be under lots of pressure to deliver from the word go.

The Delhi government understands how crucial E Sreedharan is to Delhi metro hence they did not allow him to retire when he wanted to in the recent past. He has been given many extensions, but now the time seems to have finally come for him to hang his boots and wait for his new successor. It would be exciting to see if Delhi Metro Railway Corporation makes use of his experience of working with Delhi Metro in various ways by giving him some other post.
