Say it after affect of recessionary cost cutting exercise of survival of something else but there is certainly an upsurge in recalling in recent times. It is not just automobile giants but almost every sector is reporting one recalling or the other.
Electronics, Phrama, Food and Auto are major re-callers including all major brands. It is over consumer activism or cost cutting exercise led designing fault. Any major players will definitely not compromise its brand value, but Toyota car recall is just perfect case study of pre and post recessionary cost struggle. Toyota started recalling 90,000 Lexus and Crown from the Japanese market on Monday. Paul Nolasco, Toyota Motor Corp spokesperson, said the recalls of 270,000 vehicles from across the globe will follow soon. It includes 138,000 vehicles in the U.S., 15,000 in Europe, 10,000 in the Middle East, 6,000 in China, 4,000 in Canada, and 8,000 in other regions.Toyota said it is recalling its Lexus and Crown on complaints of flaws in valve springs, a crucial part of the engine that could make the automobile stall while in motion. Earlier Toyota recalled more than 8.5 million vehicles for various problems, including sticking gas pedals, braking software glitches and defective floor mats. In U.S the Japanese auto giant paid $16.4 million for late response to the recall demands. About 220 complaints have been reported but no accidents or injuries have been reported because of the defect. Last week Toyota announced the latest quality problems. Some 180,000 of the defective automobiles were sold overseas, 138,000 of them in the United States.
