Toyota Motors launched of its new global hybrid Auris compact on Tuesday, at the Geneva International Motor Show, with an apology for the massive global recalls that have stained its reputation for quality.
AUTOMOBILE GIANT Toyota Motors launched of its new global hybrid Auris compact on Tuesday at Geneva with an apology for the massive global recalls that have stained its reputation for quality. Toyota Europe vice-president Andrea Formica said, first confronting consumer concerns before unveiling the new products that are the lifeblood of any carmaker. Toyota Motors faced the recall of 8.5 million vehicles worldwide, including nearly 2 million in Europe.
The Auris is based on Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain, with the automaker's plans to expand to its entire model range by 2020. Toyota Auris is special product from Toyota, with HSD (Hybrid Synergy Drive) and new redesign interior and exterior. Auris production came out from Toyota’s UK plant in Burnaston.
The Toyota Auris is a compact 3 door and 5 door hatchbacks which shares the same E150 platform with the Toyota Corolla. Auris is available in straight up gasoline and diesel versions. The car represents the company’s first attempt at a compact hybrid, and it’s a rather impressive one at that. Based on the European cycle, the Auris achieves 61.9 miles per gallon and only emits 89 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer driven. The car can also operate as a pure EV for 1.25 miles at speeds less than 31 mph. When in this mode the car itself has zero emissions.
During the 80th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show, which runs from March 4-14, 2010, many automobile giants are all set to unveil their products. Geneva Motor Show considered as the world's biggest automobile show.
