Toyota recall Prius model, Prius recall - latest news, updates and details
Toyota plans to recall the Prius model. Toyota said that it could be the worn accelarators, along with the floor mats for jamming the gas pedals. More than 8.5 million Toyota cars have been recalled globally.

Toyota continues to be in news. Toyota plans to recall the Prius model which was involved yesterday in a case of an unintended acceleration in San Diego. A spokesman from Toyota Motor Corp. said that the reason for Toyota prius recall is that there is no remedy or solution at the moment.

The Toyota Prius owners of 2004 to 2008 models are asked to remove the car's floor mats to prevent any chance of the accelerator being trapped. On Monday, James Sikes 61, from California reported that his Toyota Prius 2008 model, all of a sudden began racing to more than 151 km/h as he was driving on the highway. Sikes said that he virtually stood on the brakes to stop the car, but the car would not slow down. So he called 911 and in response a highway patrol officer used the bullhorm to instruct him on how to reduce his speed. The officer then eased the patrol car in front of Sike's Prius to ensure that the car stopped.

No one was hurt but the problem with Toyota cars unintended acceleration continues. More than 8.5 million of Toyota's cars have been recalled globally because of the problem. Toyota said that it could be the worn accelarators, along with the floor mats for jamming the gas pedals.
