Toyota recalls Lexus in United States - affected models, details
The Japanese automaker Toyota, one of the biggest automobile makers is again in news for latest recall. Toyota is recalling about 3,800 of its 2009-10 Lexus LS models, sold in the United States to fix a steering system defect.
THE JAPANESE automaker Toyota, one of the biggest automobile makers is again in news for latest recall. Toyota is recalling about 3,800 of its 2009-10 Lexus LS models, sold in the United States to fix a steering system defect, the automaker said on Friday, May 21. The 2009-10 Lexus LS affected models for the recalling are the LS 460, LS 460 L and LS 600h L. The LS 460 is Lexus's full-sized sedan whereasthe LS 600h is the hybrid version.
Certain Toyota Lexus models equipped with electronic steering system have encountered issues with steering wheel off-center condition, according to Toyota. So far, no accidents or injuries have been reported. Earler, Toyota has been slapped with a record $16.4 million fine for its slow response to its accelerator pedal recalls. Those recalls affected more than 8 million vehicles worldwide including about six million vehicles in the United States.
Toyota has sold about 4,000 LS sedans in the U.S. so far this year, accounting for about 6 percent of all Lexus sales. The Japanese automaker earlier recalled 4,500 LS models in Japan to address the same steering issue. The world biggest automobile maker Toyota said on Wednesday, it plans to recall 11,500 Lexus LS vehicles worldwide, including 7,000 in 50 overseas markets, including the United States and China.
