The authorities should increase the duration of this fair to at least 30 days with increased timings from 8 am till midnight to ease the ever-increasing rush at the fair. DMRC can also be requested to increase trip timings accordingly.
THE ANNUAL trade fair would begin in Delhi next month, from November 14. This 29th India International Trade Fair (IITF) will last for 14 days, attracting large crowds from all over the country with the first six days now reserved for ‘business-visitors’.
The authorities should increase the duration of this fair to at least 30 days with increased timings from 8 am till midnight to ease the ever-increasing rush at the fair. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) then can also be requested to increase trip timings accordingly.
The fair, right now if held for just two weeks with ten hours daily, where general visitors are not allowed for a substantial time devoted for ‘business-hours’, that too with general visitors having access to the fair for just eight days from this year.
Further, the number of people attending the fair has increased from the time of its inception, three decades ago. Therefore, in order to make it more convenient for its ever increasing rush of visitors, the fair should be held for a longer number of days and its daily timings should be increased.
Thought should be also be given to relocating it to a larger venue, preferably in a central location in India. This will benefit people from all corners of the country and free the capital city from traffic-jams because of the fair. Moreover, instead of one fair, there should many, held in other metro-cities of India on different dates in the year.
