Traders to support trade union strike call on Feb 20-21
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), the apex body of the trading community of the country has reiterated its support to the joint call of two days' nationwide strike on February 20 and 21st, given by 11 central trade unions of the country.

To demonstrate its solidarity with the trade unions, the CAIT will hold a “support dharna and demonstration” on 21st February, 2013 at Jantar Mantar which will be attended by large number of laborers and traders. Leading leaders of prominent trade unions, farmer organizations and other sector of retail stakeholders will also attend the dharna whereas several leading political leaders of different political parties shall also be joining the demonstration, said Mr. Narender Madan, State President of CAIT's New Delhi Chapter.

While releasing a press statement today at New Delhi in support of trade unions, Mr. Madan informed that in accordance with its support both CAIT National President Mr. B. C. Bhartia and National Secretary General Mr. Praveen Khandelwal has advised Trade Federations and Associations across the Country to support the call in their respective states and organize similar protests on 21st February in their respective states. They have also advised CAIT constituents to participate in protests organized by any of the trade union in their states on both above days.

The CAIT said that though the Prime Minister has taken the cognizance of the issue and has formed a Group of Ministers yet it was good on the part of the Government if this step would have been taken earlier. It has appealed to the Group of Ministers to take the issues raised by the trade unions in its right perspective and arrive at an amicable solution to the satisfaction of the constituents of the trade unions. However, the CAIT stands committed with the stand taken by the trade unions and as such will support any decision that might be taken by trade unions in the wake of call of Prime Minister, said Mr. Madan.
