In a press conference at Commissioner's Office, Gurgaon Traffic Police launch their mascot Traffic Tau
Gurgaon Traffic Police has come up with a number of initiatives to create awareness among Gurgaon residents regarding road safety. In another interesting and unique initiative, the Gurgaon traffic police have come up with a traffic mascot known as 'Traffic Tau.' In a press conference organised by the Gurgaon traffic police and its partners today, the traffic mascot was unveiled.

With looks like Chacha Chaudhury, and an almost similar sharp brain, Tau dons a read pagdi, white dhoti-kurta, blue angrakha and his friend is a lathi called 'Yaadram.' He is strict as was evident from his words while gracing the occasion. Tau will have the authority to maintain traffic snarls at peace and will observe the traffic scenario on roads. His responsibilities includes teaching commuters a lesson or two, so that they will not bend the rules repeatedly.

Commissioner of Police Alok Mittal, Bharti Arora IPS, actor Chandrachur Singh were the guest of honour during the event, where the actor inaugurated the 'Traffic Tau' mascot. Being a resident of Gurgaon, Singh talked about the need for a good traffic mascot. He said, “Tau is a word, which is taken with a lot of respect in Haryana and we should respect Traffic Tau and take him seriously.”

He further added a message for the citizens of Gurgaon, “I want to implore the citizens of Gurgaon to contribute to traffic rules and regulations. Raahgiri is another very good initiative and I have heard a lot of about it.” Alok Mittal also said that the main motive of incorporating Traffic Tau is to ensure better traffic management and improve facility. Thanking their partner such as SABMiller India, Home Safe, MEGA Cabs and Radio City, Mittal also said that everyone has to contribute.

Mr. Ajit Jha, Director, Corporate Affairs SABMiller India said, “We are happy that our campaign efforts have been much appreciated and have received an encouraging response in Gurgaon since its inception. The introduction of a road safety mascot - Traffic Tau is an unprecedented concept and will surely appeal to the local people in Gurgaon. It will amplify the awareness and need to follow traffic rules. We are happy to receive the support of Gurgaon Traffic Police in our endeavour to create cognizance towards safer roads. We are hopeful that Traffic Tau wil ensure a happy and safe New Year for everyone in the city.”

Traffic Tau brings a positive vibe and comes as a saviour to the traffic mess of Gurgaon.
