The new guidelines introduced by the broadcast regulator TRAI include no charges for repair and maintenance during warranty period. But a prior notice of 15 days has been declared mandatory before an operator disconnects a connection.
IN A bid to upgrade the quality of service, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) introduced new guidelines on Friday (March 13).
The new guidelines introduced by the broadcast regulator TRAI include no charges for repair and maintenance during the warranty period. But a prior notice of 15 days has been declared mandatory before an operator disconnects a connection.
The DTH operators have been asked not to change the composition of their subscription packages during the first six months. If any channel is removed, the DTH operators would also have to reduce the subscription charges. If a DTH operator does not do so, then the channel must be replaced with another channel of same kind and language.
The new guidelines also mention that while the DTH operator would have the power of selecting a channel of the same genre and language in a subscription package to replace a channel, the subscriber would enjoy the right to choose the package with reduced charges or the package with the replaced channel.
The new guidelines also say that the DTH operators must entertain the requests of the subscribers for suspension of services. In this regard, the requested period of suspension should not exceed three calendar months and also should not comprise part of a calendar month.
