Treat rape like a terrorist offence: Dr. Swamy
Janata Party President Dr. Subramanian Swamy has demanded the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to immediately issue an ordinance to treat rape like a terrorist offence.
ACCORDING TO Dr Swamy, those days are gone when rape was an offence committed occasionally by an individual against a woman in a fit of passion. “Today rape has become an epidemic, committed by a gang, accompanied by a beastly brutalisation of the victim, as in the recent gang rape in a bus,” Dr Swamy said in a media statement.
Therefore, he demanded that without delay the Prime Minister must get an ordinance issued to make rape a terrorism offence with either death or bobbitisation as sentence.
