According to the official sources, one Bingu Jani aged about 30 years and democratically elected as Sarpanch of Dumuripadar Grampanchayat of Koraput district in Orissa and lodged in Koraput district jail is facing a number of cooked up criminal charges including waging war against the state. The cases initiated against Bingu Jani are so serious that it will take several years to release him from the jail, the police officials confirmed.
According to reliable information, on September 26, 2010 at about 12.45 pm while he was sitting with another Sarpanch of Mathalput Bijaya Muduli, a group of miscreants abducted him forcefully from the place where he was taking cold drinks. Later, he was taken to a special operation group police camp near Koraput and confined.The tribal Sarpanch was bound using ropes and assaulted by the police men in the name of interrogation to know the whereabouts of the top Naxal leaders like Ramkrishna, Aruna, Daya and others. The Sarpanch was assaulted brutally by the police and later his signatures were taken on a blank and printed papers and he was produced before the Court on September 30, 2010, added sources.Muni Jani wife of Bingu Jani filed a complaint case before the court of the sub divisional judicial magistrate against Anup Kumar Sahu, IPS, superintendent of police, Koraput, Sarat Kumar Sahoo, Inspector in Charge (IIC), Semiliguda and Bijoyini Singh, IIC, Damanjodi on October 8, 2010 for illegal detention and harassment of her husband.
